Common Consumption: Everything You Need to Know
Get ready Denver, soon guests will be able to drink alcohol in designated outdoor areas thanks to the Mile High City’s recent approval of Common Consumption Areas (CCA), according to an article published by the Colorado Restaurant Association. Our commercial advisor, Matt Harper, provided the following bullet points to help summarize the main points of the article:
- Denver recently approved of Common Consumption Areas (CCA) that will allow restaurants and retailers to allow customers to consume alcohol in outdoor designated areas from various businesses
- With the approval, it allows for the continued recovery of restaurants from the pandemic
- Before applying for a license, work with other restaurants and businesses in your area. All licensees must have their own liquor license for “on-premise” consumption already before applying for a CCA
- In addition, an action plan between all involved businesses will need to be put together that involves details for security, public transportation, parking, health, and sanitation
- Once you fill out the paperwork and get the action plan put together, it is then time for a public hearing with possible opposition to your license so be prepared for any pushback arguments
